Over the last year, I spoke at several conferences about using Oracle GoldenGate 23ai to feed AI use cases like LLMs and RAG, usually generating embeddings and running AI models inside Oracle Database 23ai.
🔥 What’s new with Oracle GoldenGate 26ai?
Those AI capabilities are now native to Oracle GoldenGate itself, enabling AI-powered replication without external components or custom integrations.
No more workarounds or external glue code, AI services, models, and real-time data streaming now come together directly inside GoldenGate.
This is a big step forward for:
- Real-time AI pipelines
- Streaming data for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and GenAI (Generative Artificial Intelligence)
- Cleaner and more scalable architectures
GoldenGate evolves from a replication tool into a real-time data streaming + AI platform.
✨ Key highlights in Oracle GoldenGate 26ai

Expanded heterogeneous support
- Capture & delivery for YugabyteDB and YugabyteDB Anywhere
- Capture & delivery for EDB Postgres Advanced Server
- Delivery support for Google Spanner
Embedded AI providers & models (via Web UI)
- Native integration with OpenAI, OCI Generative AI, Gemini, and Voyager AI
- Build AI-aware pipelines (enrichment, embeddings, GenAI, RAG) without custom glue code
- Enables true AI-powered replication driven by streaming data
Automatic Schema Evolution
- Schema changes are automatically detected and propagated
- Reduces manual effort, operational risk, and improves agility in streaming environments

Supported Oracle Databases in OGG 26ai

Oracle GoldenGate 26ai supports Oracle Database 19c, 21c, and 23ai, including Oracle AI Database 26ai, for both source and target roles.
For Oracle Database 19c, the minimum supported release is 19.23.0.0.240416 (April 2024) DB Release Update (DB RU), due to Bug 33368352, Patch 36233263.

Support is available exclusively on Microservices Architecture, running on 64-bit Linux (Oracle Linux 8/9 and RHEL 8/9). It enables both local and remote capture and delivery for Standard and Enterprise Editions.
One of the biggest challenges today is upgrading and patching Oracle Databases to a GoldenGate-supported version before using Oracle GoldenGate.
Making sure database versions and patch levels are correct is often the first, and most critical, step before deploying modern GoldenGate architectures and enabling advanced features such as AI-driven data pipelines.
We currently have customers facing this challenge (so no, it’s not just you 😄), and we’re supporting them through this process.
⚠️ Important reminder about architecture & support
Oracle announced an important update to the Oracle GoldenGate 21c support timeline. Previously, the Premier Support timeline for OGG 21c was approaching its end.

However, Oracle has now confirmed Extended Support for Oracle GoldenGate 21c until April 2027.
This is great news for customers, as it provides additional time to properly plan and execute the migration to Oracle GoldenGate 26ai, including architectural changes, infrastructure adjustments, and modernization initiatives.

So, if you’re still running Classic Architecture, it’s time to move on:
- OGG 19c Classic → Extended Support only until April 2027
- OGG 21c Classic → Extended Support only until April 2027
Beyond support timelines, Microservices Architecture brings better scalability, observability, automation, and cloud-ready designs — and it’s the foundation for all new innovation, including AI features.
Move to Microservices Architecture 26ai
If you are running any other Oracle GoldenGate version, the recommendation is to move directly to the Microservices Architecture on 26ai.

How to Test-Drive Oracle GoldenGate 26ai
If you want to explore and validate the new capabilities introduced with Oracle GoldenGate 26ai, you can start by installing the latest available patch.
Oracle GoldenGate 26ai features are delivered through the 23.26.1.0.0 release, available as a complete installation package.
- Patch: 38850058
- Description: Oracle GoldenGate 23.26.1.0.0 for Oracle (Complete Install)
